Julia Rymer is a multi-media artist and art educator living in Denver, Colorado, USA. She works across media, integrating painting and drawing materials with collage, mixed media techniques, fiber art, and printmaking. Through the lens of migration, assimilation, and cultural loss, her current work engages with her family’s German Jewish history and how inherited memory is rediscovered and given new meaning in the present. Her layered works reflect the accumulation of time, revealing discontinuities, losses, and remnants that are gradually uncovered and rediscovered.
Spanning 30+ years as an artist, she has been included in numerous solo and group exhibitions and collected by many corporate, museum and private collections throughout the United States. She holds an MFA in Painting from Pratt Institute, and a BFA in Painting from the University of Denver. Julia has an extensive background in art education and is a faculty member at the Curtis Center for the Arts.
